The Southernmost City in the World, Ushuaia

Ushuaia is the Southernmost City in the World, which is located in the South of Argentina, in Tierra del Fuego.

Although I have gone to Ushuaia several times at different times of the year, I get marveled at its beauty every time.

The National Park in the area is amazing! The last time I went, I walked from the lodge in downtown Ushuaia to the Park. I had never realized (I always did it by bus or by car) how beautiful the landscape is from the town to the Park. As I arrived at Noon, the train from the entrance had already left, and the next one was at 3 pm, so, I decided to continue by foot to the end of Route 3. I do recommend taking the train though, it is fun! I assure you that I ended up tired but super happy and I hitchhike my way back to town. People are very friendly there.

Another fun activity is to rent a snowmobile. But, it may not be worth the cost for some low-budget tourists.

As I love trekking, obviously I practiced in different amazing places such as Lago Escondido.

If you have time, I also recommend going to Lake Fagnano. If you are traveling with other people, it is cheaper to rent a car. In Ushuaia there are several car rental agencies and tourist information booths.

If you are looking for a traditional place to go for a cup of tea or dinner, you may want to tray “Ramos Generales” which is located at Av. Maipú 749. Both the place itself and the service and food are EXCELLENT, and worth checking out even if you are staying for a few days.

Other recommended places are the museum of the presidio, Estancia Haberton, and checking out the penguins. If you opt to go on your own, it may be a bit hard to find a spot on the boat that takes you to the penguin area. So, you may need to hire a tour for this.

For winter sports, I like the Cerro Castor much more than other places because there are not so crowded.

Regarding food, Centolla is the most important dish there, I recommend you to taste it!
